“The Democratic Progressive Party that is no longer democratic and progressive (1)” Zhuang Shuren

DPP, as a junior, I am very grateful to you for the democracy and freedom you have won in the past. Whenever I flip through the pages of “Confinement. Collision. Freedom”, when I see photos that record past street protests and conflicts, the corners of my eyes are always filled with tears. Because of the struggles of these people, I am now happy.

“The Democratic Progressive Party, which is no longer democratic and progressive, (1)”

Author: Zhuang Shuren

DPP, as a junior, I would like to express my gratitude to the democracy and freedom you have won in the past.
I am very grateful, and without you, I would not be able to speak freely.

Whenever I flip through the pages of “Confinement. Collision. Freedom,
When I see photos of past street protests and conflicts, I always have tears in the corners of my eyes.
Because of the struggles of these people, I am now happy.

“Judicial independence is a long road, and the public should not look forward to the ‘judicial reform’ of the Lin Yang Port Route, nor should they sit idly by and wait for the emergence of ‘judicial heroes’. How to use the power of the people, the victims of political trials and the enlightened people in the judicial circles, to march in an all-round way towards the corrupt ‘party-based judiciary’ is the solution to the judicial problem.”

This passage is excerpted from the 270th issue of the Liberty Times Weekly written by Zheng Nanrong’s predecessors.

But now, Ko Wen-je, the former chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party, has been detained for seven months without any substantial evidence;
And Chen Qiyu, Tu Chengwen, Lin Bingwen, Guo Zhemin, Zhong Wenzhi, Zeng Yaofeng, these gold-absorbing evidence is conclusive, but they can get away with it just because they are friendly with the DPP’s high-level leaders.

Democratic Progressive Party, isn’t this what your predecessors said, a corrupt “party-based judiciary”?

DPP, point 19 of your program of action reads:
Personal liberty is guaranteed, and no one is subject to illegal arrest, detention, interrogation, punishment, and torture is strictly prohibited.

May I ask, what law did Ko Wen-je the former chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party, violate?
As the ruling party, do you guarantee his personal freedom?

DPP, the second point of your basic program reads:
“A democratic and free country should be free from all forms of violence and autocracy, based on a legal and political order based on the free will and independent decision of the majority, and abide by the following basic principles: protection of basic human rights, national sovereignty, autonomy of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples, separation of powers and checks and balances, responsible government, administration according to law, judicial independence, equality and freedom of political parties.”

Ko Wen-je, the former chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party, is now a patient with blood in the urine, but he cannot seek medical treatment.
Is this the guarantee of basic human rights in a democratic and free country?

Democratic Progressive Party, why do you keep trampling on what you have fought for in the past?
